Manuel Gea is co-founder & CEO Bio-Modeling Systems: The world’s first Mechanisms-based Medicine company

He is Chairman of the Independent trans-discipline biotech Think Tank Adebiotech, and the co-founder and Chairman of Centrale-Santé, the French Health Think-Tank gathering 2500 members, professional involved in sector innovations and creating value for patients.

Manuel Gea (56 years old) is a serial entrepreneur & business angel developing disruptive innovations (technologies, novel therapies & business models) in the life sciences, IT, digital, healthcare & cosmetics sectors to propose disruptive integrated solutions adapted to each segment..

He spent 30 years creating value in various domains and executive jobs:

  • from consumer goods Industry to cosmetics, biotechnology & pharma companies and,
  • from business to R&D at Colgate-Palmolive, McKinsey, Boehringer Ingelheim, HemispherX Biopharma, Pherecydes-Pharma, BMSystems and,
  • co-founding or contributing to professional organizations (Leem biotech, Medef, Medicen cluster) and Think-Tanks (Adebiotech, Centrale-Santé) to promote disruptive innovation and entrepreneurship.

He is graduated from Ecole Centrale Paris, and has a sociology of organizations degree from Paris IX Dauphine University.

Danielle LANDO, Adebiotech

Danielle Lando est titulaire d’un doctorat d’état obtenu à l’Institut Pasteur de Paris pour la recherche en virologie. Elle a effectué sa carrière dans l’industrie pharmaceutique où elle a exercé des fonctions de chercheur en pharmacologie cellulaire et moléculaire avant de prendre la responsabilité des biotechnologies au sein de Roussel Uclaf devenu Sanofi. Elle a œuvré pour des rapprochements entre son entreprise et le secteur académique en soutenant des projets collaboratifs. Elle a été membre nommé au Comité National du CNRS de 1995 à 2000. Depuis 2001, elle exerce des activités scientifiques bénévoles au sein d’Adebiotech, association dont elle est actuellement Vice-Présidente.

Vanessa PROUX, Sup’Biotech

Vanessa Proux, docteure ès sciences, Directrice Générale de Sup’Biotech école d’ingénierie spécialisée en biotechnologies, IONIS Education Group. Après avoir obtenu une maîtrise de Biochimie à l’Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Vanessa Proux intègre l’UTC pour préparer son DEA puis son doctorat dans le Laboratoire de Technologie Enzymatique dirigé par le Pr Daniel Thomas. Une fois sa thèse soutenue en 2001, elle obtient un contrat de recherche de 2 ans au CEA pour introduire les techniques d’analyses électrochimiques dans un projet de recherche sur la bioproduction d’hydrogène. En parallèle, elle s’est toujours intéressée à l’enseignement. Ainsi elle rejoint en 2004 Ionis Education Group pour un nouveau projet d’école dédiée aux Biotechnologies, elle choisit de se lancer dans cette aventure pédagogique, motivée par le challenge de créer une école innovante qui apportera sa contribution dans la réponse aux besoins en compétences exprimés par les professionnels des Biotechnologies. Aujourd’hui, Sup’Biotech rassemble 600 étudiants, 500 anciens et 157 enseignants et intervenants professionnels. Depuis 2014, Vanessa Proux préside aussi la commission Formation du pôle de compétitivité Medicen Paris Région.

Rozenn RAVALLEC, UMRt INRAe BioEcoAgro

Rozenn RAVALLEC est professeur à l’Université de Lille, et dirige une équipe dans l’UMRT INRAE BioEcoAgro. Elle dispose d’une expertise de presque 20 ans sur la valorisation des coproduits agroalimentaires et ses recherches portent plus particulièrement sur l’activité biologique des peptides générés au cours de la digestion gastro-intestinale et leurs interactions avec l’environnement intestinal. Elle est également responsable d’une plate-forme permettant le criblage des activités biologiques. Cette plate-forme consiste en la mise en place de techniques de dosage mais aussi de méthodologies pour la compréhension des mécanismes d’action des peptides en particulier antistress (opioïde), antihypertenseur (inhibiteur de l’ECA), impliqués dans la régulation du métabolisme énergétique, (obésité, diabète) ou encore anti inflammatoire. Cette plateforme cherche également à mesurer les impacts cytotoxiques de ces molécules actives. Elle est impliquée dans le projet européen BBI BIOSMART sur la conception d’emballages intelligents bio-sourcés pour une meilleure préservation de la qualité des aliments, co-directrice d’une équipe mixte avec la société Ingredia (AlLInPep) et co-directrice du laboratoire associé international (LAI) sur la bioproduction d’antimicrobiens naturels (LIAAN) avec l’INAF à Québec.

  Alain Baniel has been working in the nutrition research and food industry for more than 25 years. After a PhD in Food Sciences from the University of Nantes, France and a postdoc from Guelph University in Canada, he joined the Nestlé’s subsidiary Proteika as Scientific Director for 10 years. In 2007 he created and managed for 4 years a company specialised in the development and distribution of micronutrition for clinical and sport nutrition.

He is currently the R&D Manager at Ingredia Group. He is responsible for the implementation and coordination of a global research program that develops and investigates a portfolio of milk ingredients for the food and nutrition industries in relation to their functional and health benefits. Among different research programs, he takes a particular interest in the understanding of the digestion behaviours of proteins and its impacts to develop appropriate formula for specific nutritional needs.

PhD in analytical chemistry with an experience of 15 years in analytical laboratories.

  • Strong expertise in analytical chemistry for cosmetic products testing and pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical products testing

Depuis août 2020, Gautier Decock est Directeur de Seqens’lab. Seqens est un acteur mondial intégré de la synthèse pharmaceutique et des ingrédients de spécialité.

Organic Chemist, graduated from Orsay-Paris XI University in 1988 (nowadays Paris-Saclay), Christophe DINI initiated his carrier as medicinal chemist at Roussel Uclaf, then he successively became Laboratory Head, then Group Leader at Sanofi-Aventis. In parallel he was missioned as Project Leader in Anti-infective and Oncology for projects spanning from target identification to preclinical development. 
Thereafter, in 2004, he co-founded Oroxcell, a CRO specialized in DMPK studies, along with developing its own portfolio of innovative therapeutics for of pain treatment. In 2015, while taking the lead of the company, he refocused Oroxcell activities towards In Vitro tests and more precisely by incorporating a suite of in chemico and 3D human epithelia-based model to support the ineluctable evolution towards alternative methods to animal use.
Today a fair number of these methods serve the regulatory safety assessment of substances issued from for pharma, cosmetic, medical device and chemical industries, and therefore endorsed in lieu of animal models.[/caption]

David Guerrand graduated in 1997 from the University of Caen with a PhD in Biotechnology. After teaching biology at high school level, he joined Lallemand, with several positions in applied R&D and product management in the enology business unit.

In 2008, David joined DSM in The Netherlands as Application Manager for food and beverages enzymes.

He also worked for TWB as Business Manager prior joining back Lallemand in 2017 where he is currently managing the global business for fermentation nutrients.

David’s first connection with Adebiotech goes back to 2012 with the Hyd (Peptides) congress and attended and contributed to many more in the last 10 years.

Thierry Maugard, est professeur de biochimie dans le département de Biotechnologies de l’université de La Rochelle. Il est l’auteur de plus de 59 publications scientifiques et de 3 brevets. Il effectue sa recherche dans l’unité CNRS LIENSs où il dirige l’axe ‘’Mécanisme d’Actions et Dysfonctionnements’’ de l’équipe ‘’Approches Moléculaires Environnement-Santé’’ du laboratoire, équipe pluridisciplinaire qui développe des approches d’ingénierie biotechnologique au profit de l’obtention de molécules actives à bénéfice santé marqué.

Ses activités de recherche concernent principalement :

  • le développement de bioprocédés verts de transformation et de valorisation des ressources marines et agricoles pour les secteurs pharmaceutique, cosmétique et nutraceutique ;
  • le développement de nouvelles voies de synthèse ou de transformation enzymatique de biomolécules d’intérêt ;
  • le développement de systèmes innovants de traitement thérapeutique sélectifs, de diagnostic ou de vectorisation d’actifs ;
  • ainsi que la compréhension des mécanismes d’action de biomolécules régulatrices de processus pathologiques tels que le cancer, le diabète, l’hypertension artérielle, le cholestérol, les troubles de la coagulation.

Olivier Nore, get a PhD in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering obtained conjointly in the University of Western Ontario (Canada) and ENSIC/INPL Nancy (France). He finalize his formation in Project Management at the MTI of Boston (US).
He spend the major part of his career in the industry. He start his career working in R&D for ELF, followed by Rhone-Poulenc and Rhodia. For Aventis Animal Nutrition, who became Adisseo, he occupied the position of R&D Process Director, and Operation Director for Metabolic Explorer.
Actually Innovation Director, Processes and Biotechnology for AVRIL Group, his mission is to deployed for the Group new innovative technologies.[/caption]

Involved for several years in development and promotion of in vitro toxicology assays based on reconstructed human tissues.

After a PhD in neuroscience at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) he held a temporary teaching position at the university of Tours (France). He joined L’Oréal R&I in 2000 at the Life Science Research Center where he was involved in development and implementation of computerized tools for alternative to animal approaches in toxicology (results database, expert systems).

In 2004 he was appointed to scientific communication on alternative methods to animal testing and tissue engineering.

In 2011 he joined EPISKIN, a subsidiary of L’Oréal, dedicated to development and production of reconstructed human epithelia. As Scientific Director, he has been involved in several development projects that led to the introduction of new models and methods to the market. He developed the EPISKIN Academy program to promote the dissemination of alternative methods through education and training and to relay EPISKIN commitments to 3Rs.

Involved for several years in biocompatibility of medical devices he is Chairman of the French AFNOR S92J commission and convenior of the WG8 skin irritation and sensitization of the ISO/TC194 for biocompatibility of medical devices. He is also L’Oreal R&I Research associate and member of the advisory council of the Indian Society for Alternatives to Animal Experiments (SAAE)

After an agricultural engineer School in France (Lasalle Beauvais), Alexis RANNOU joined ARD for activities in R&D to extract non digestible sugar for surfactant application (1991-1995). He was after in charge of ARD’s pilot plant (1995-1997).

In 1997 he joined the Soliance company (daughter company of ARD) as technical director.

In 2000 he was named as Deputy General Manager in charge of the industrial production.

In 2007 he was in charge of the innovation team and several global accounts.

In 2014 he joined Givaudan as Operations Director & site manager

Since 2018, he held the position of Head of Operations Strategy in charge of tolling & process development for Givaudan Active Beauty.

André Tordeux est avant tout un entrepreneur. Sa carrière professionnelle, au départ celle d’un universitaire, est jalonnée d’intitiaves, toutes orientées vers le développement. En 1985 il crée un centre de recherche en économie régionale, le CRESC. Peu de temps après, il crée le premier Centre de Valorisation et de Transfert de Technologies intégré à une université (Le CEFE), puis un cabinet Conseil pour le redressement d’entreprises en difficulté (ADRYADE). C’est tout naturellement qu’il deviendra responsable du pôle entrepreneuriat de l’EDHEC en 1996. En créant la société Genoscreen en 2001, André Tordeux quitte son habit de Directeur de Recherche en sciences de gestion pour se lancer dans l’aventure de la génomique. Cet engagement à la direction d’une Biotech, qui figure aujourd’hui parmi les leaders du marché de la biologie moléculaire, en France, lui vaut de sièger au sein des Comités Scientifiques et Conseils de Pôles de compétitivité NSL et AQUIMER et d’être administrateur d’institutions vouées à l’innovation et au développement comme EURASANTE, le CETI (Centre Européen des Textiles Innovants) et ADEBIOTECH.
